Ray
Marsh
Biography
1977—Ray,
originally from Lafayette, IN earned
varsity letters in Football and Baseball
at Jefferson High School and was a part
of the Colt World Series baseball team
that won an international championship.
Up until that time Ray had enjoyed
Christian fellowship as a youth.
However, the summer of his senior year
in high school, Ray accepted Jesus
Christ as his Savior and began a
personal relationship with Him.
1978—Ray
earned a Baseball / Football grant to
attend school and play sports at
Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH. While
attending Heidelberg he was introduced
to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
and later that Summer went to his first
FCA National Conference as a huddle
leader for middle school and high school
athletes.
1979—1983 Because
of Ray’s father's failing health, he
returned home and completed his
education at Purdue University (BS in
School of Supervision 1983) where he
participated on the Purdue summer
baseball team and also on the Crew Team.
Staying close to Christ through weekly
inter-collegiate FCA meetings with 150
other athletes on campus was a good
balance with his participation in
leadership in the local church. Ray
served as the Youth Director and Worship
Leader (both lay positions) in his local
church, Linnwood Church of Christ in
Lafayette, Indiana. In the middle of his
junior year, he joined the staff at
Calvary Baptist Church (West Lafayette,
IN) as their middle school / high school
youth director. He attended Emmanuel
School of Religion in Johnson City,
Tennessee, and has academic credit hours
toward a Masters of Divinity degree.
1984—1987
Ray accepted a position with the
national staff of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes working with athletes
and coaches from middle school through
the professional ranks in Philadelphia.
In 1987, he served in Indiana as FCA's
Southern Indiana Area Representative.
2004—2008
After a very successful stint in the
business world where Ray was a marketing
consultant for AT&T, he felt called
to re-enter the ministry on an official
basis and accepted the position as
Sports and Recreation Ministry Director
at Mount Pleasant Christian Church
(Greenwood, IN).
Currently,
Ray is combining all of his life
experiences to promote Sports Ministry
Resource and is also the Minister of
Sports and Recreation at Carmel United
Methodist Church in Carmel, Indiana.
